What OIG Does
Comprised of the Office of Audits, Office of Inspections, and Office of Investigations, OIG promotes careful management of available resources, efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability across DIA programs. The staff works to uncover and stop fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement.
As head of OIG, the Inspector General (IG) oversees the offices of Audits, Inspections, and Investigations. Nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate, only the president can remove the IG from office. The IG’s authorities and responsibilities are provided in 50 U.S.C. §3517.
